Lying along the slope of Tılfındır Hill to the east of Şanlıurfa Museum Complex are the Kızılkoyun Rock Tombs which were used as housing by the local people until recently. Excavations undertaken by the Metropolitan Municipality subsequently uncovered 59 rock tombs which are understood to have been used as cellars and storehouse of the houses found along the hillside on which the houses that were pulled down used to lean. Some of the tombs have mosaic floors dating back to the Kingdom of Oshroene (Edessa), Roman and Byzantine periods.
