Mevlevihane Mosque

Even though the date of its establishment is not precicely known, Urfa Mevlevi Lodge, which has existed since the 18th century, was closed following the abolition of lodges and zawiyas during the period of the Republic. Mevlevi Lodge, whose last sheik was Hacı Hasan Döner, has since been restored from its devastated state in 1973 with the sema hall (semahane) turned into a mosque by the General Directorate for Foundations. Most recently, the gardens of the lodge have been enhanced as a part of an expropriation project.
