The museum is built inthe historical Urfa mansion Hacıbanlar House, and is located very close to the Great Mosque. Opened in 2011, the museum represents also one of the best examples of historical Urfa houses with its 5 rooms, 1 store for grains, 1 iwan, 3 cellars, 2 water wells, and a wide courtyard. In its courtyard, the pool is garnished with rich stone ornaments.
The kitchen, cellar, and rooms are traditionally decorated, and the daily life in Urfa is animated with dummies wearing traditional clothes of Urfa region. Admission to the museum is free.
