The structure was built over the remains of a church from the 6th century in 1861 and built in the names of two apostles of Prophet Jesus with the original name of Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. It is known as ‘’Reji’’ among the people. Reji Church which is originally an ancient Syrian church, is today used as a cultural centre.
