It is called Samsat Inn because it is located next to the old city gate named ‘Samsat’, which no longer exists. Samsat Gate was the Northern gate of the city when the city was surrounded by walls. Even though its actual construction date is unknown, this inn was first mentioned in Evliya Çelebi’s book of travel in the 17th century. The inn was currently renovated and serve as a restaurant under the name of Cevahir Inn.
